Primary Job Responsibilities
· Design, implement systems compatible with existing structured data systems within eBay, specifically eBay's product catalog system.
· Define, design, and implement software applications. Segment and design system layers to support componentized and layered application development, including user interface, business functionality, and database access.
· Work with other engineers, managers, Product Management, QA, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.
· Estimate engineering effort; plan implementation, and rollout system changes.
· Must be able to independently design, code and test major features, as well as work jointly with other team members to deliver complex changes.
· Share engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities.
· Automate manual engineering processes.
· Develop industry and product technical expertise.


Job Requirements
· Expertise in C++/Java.
· Experience with data-driven systems, meta data analysis.
· Experiece in Perl and (UNIX) shell-script experience is desired.
· Must have solid DB understanding (Oracle experience preferred).
· Experience in requirements analysis, design, coding and unit testing of scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant applications in UNIX and T environments.
· Knowledge required in object-oriented design methodology and application development.
· Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus in a high velocity, high quality environment.
· Comfortable working with systems that are built using multiple technologies.


Basic Qualifications
· BS in Computer Science or related technical degree
· 1+ years C++/Java experience.
· Experience with databases and schema design.
· Working knowledge in scripting languages such as Perl.
· Ability to program, debug and deploy code in UNIX environments.
· Experience with internet technologies such as XML, SOAP and WSDL in a distributed environment.
