The Bill Lane Center for the American West is looking for an undergraduate to provide research assistance to two textual analysis projects this summer:

1) Air pollution politics in the United States and Mexico
2) Senate floor speeches on climate change from 1990 until present

Responsibilities include scraping, cleaning, and possibly analyzing Twitter posts and Senate speeches. Skills in and experience with natural language processing, especially sentiment analysis and topic modeling, are required. Attention to detail and strong work ethic are highly desirable.

The RA is expected to work full-time for ten weeks (June - August) under the mentorship of Dr. Bruce Cain, director of the Bill Lane Center, and a doctoral student. The research will be housed at the Bill Lane Center for the American West and the compensation will be $7,000.
