"Rethinking Servers and Data Centers"
4:15pm - 4:45pm

With Facebook users spending a collective 25 billion minutes on the site each day, serving 3 billion photos uploaded each month, and managing more than 45 terabytes of logging data per day, we're forced to think about servers and datacenters differently. Amir Michael, hardware design manager at Facebook, explains how thinking differently can lead to significant gains in cost and energy efficiency.

Amir Michael joined Facebook in 2009 and leads the hardware design team. Together with the data center team they are responsible for creating the highly efficient infrastructure which powers Facebook. Amir has spoken at several events promoting the use of energy and cost efficient servers and data centers.
