2014 Poster Sessions : Extracting Relations from Text for Knowledge Base Population

Student Name : Arun Chaganty
Advisor : Percy Liang
Research Areas: Artificial Intelligence
In a quest to extract more structured information from the web, we are interested in extracting relations such as "spouse of", "city of headquarters", " schools attended", etc from web text. These relations provide semantic information with applications in smarter search, deeper analytics, etc. In this poster, I will describe the Stanford relation extraction system, which is competitive with the state of the art, and what we are currently working on: entity linking and relational inference.
Arun Chaganty is a 2nd year PhD student working with Percy Liang. He is broadly interested in information extraction and providing guaranteed learning algorithms for latent variable models.
