We're hiring in SF Bay Area / DC Area / Remote.

As a product design engineer at Wispr, you will primarily be responsible for developing the unique interactions, frameworks, and applications required for a new class of device. You will be rapidly prototyping across both hardware and software to evaluate and select the best designs. You will work closely with Wispr’s founders and work directly with the rest of the world-class engineering team to design and execute Wispr’s product vision.

Core Job Responsibilities

Design and develop cutting-edge hardware devices
Build a lot of prototypes, break them, and iterate quickly
Work across mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and software / firmware and collaborate with the engineering teams to build prototypes and bring interactions to life
Help define and drive product roadmap and timelines
Drive tasks independently, solve challenging problems, and communicate issues and needs clearly
Build new interaction models, connecting unique sensors to application-level frameworks
Interact with our industrial designers to envision and create the next generation of human computer interaction

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

BS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of work experience
Experience with designing and prototyping new modes of interaction / HCI
Experienced mechanical design engineer who loves working on highly creative, fast-paced, and collaborative teams
Nice to have Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience
MS in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering with 4+ years of work experience
Prototyped hardware products from zero to one
Experience building consumer products / wearables
Comfortable with demos and presentations
Familiarity with multiple product and project development disciplines and dependencies and how they interact
Knowledge of manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding, etc.)
Experience interfacing with network-dependent services
Basic CAD for prototyping and fixtures, 3D printing
Experience with IMUs/sensor systems with an understanding of calibration methods
